From Dr. Hildy:

I would like to dedicate our Oxygen Deficiency Show to the actor Victor Sen Yung, posthumously, who passed away from carbon monoxide poisoning in his apartment in North Hollywood, CA on November 9, 1980.

Carbon monoxide, inhalents, volatile solvents, aerosols (containing propellants and solvents), gases (carbon monoxide, ether, chlorform, halothane, and nitrous oxides (“laughing gas”) and organic nitrites (amyl nitrites, cyclohexyl and butyl) are only a few of the causes that cause oxygen deficiency from chemical exposure as recognized by OSHA, EPA and many other governmental regulatory affairs agencies.

See Victor Sen Yung on Wikipedia at http://en.wikipedia,org/wiki/victor_sen_yung and Amoeba blog (Asian actors).

(diagram) of the lungs as one would breath air in to them and then of the kidney’s and blood (hemoglobin). These anatomy pictures reference the information we will be discussing Example: Hemoglobin, the red color in blood, and what makes it bright red – more oxygen.

The last half hour of the show, Sandra and I will move into the physical loss of oxygen due to what is known as “Crush Syndrome”. This is when your organs are crushed in say an automobile accident and oxygen can not get to that area of the body, or spinal cord, etc.: http://wisegeek.com/what-is-crush-syndrome.htm
